Prepare for Success with Career Readiness Competencies

Being "career ready" means doing everything you can to prepare and execute a successful transition to the workplace. Career readiness involves:

  • Learning about the competencies employers value and seek in new hires;
  • Reflecting on your own competency development through your course work, extracurricular activities, volunteer experience, student jobs, and internships;
  • Proactively seeking out opportunities to further develop and enhance your competencies;
  • And communicating your competencies to employers using language they understand in your application materials and interviews.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) developed the career readiness competencies with employers, university career centers, and students. Review them and evaluate your strengths and areas for additional growth and development. Your career advisors, faculty, supervisors, and mentors are just a few of the people who can help you with this process. Schedule an appointment with us to learn more.
