Greetings from Patty Caballero

Dear Alumni,

There is much for us to celebrate! First, it’s National Volunteer Month, the time each year when we honor our alumni volunteers. And I love any opportunity to recognize the hundreds of dedicated AU alumni serving our alma mater. Volunteers truly make a difference in the life of the university.

Later this month, we will mark Eagles in Action, a day of service during which AU alumni work on community projects. It’s a fantastic way to give back and connect with fellow Eagles in your city. If you're in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Denver, or Seattle, please consider participating. Please note that some events require pre-registration.

Also, in case you haven’t heard, we celebrated the formal inauguration of Jonathan Alger as AU’s 16th president last month. I was honored to represent the alumni body in welcoming President Alger to our community. I look forward to working with him—and you—to advance the mission of our alma mater.

And, speaking of celebrations, I can’t wait to join you in celebrating five truly remarkable AU alumni next month at our annual Alumni Awards Dinner and Ceremony. Registration is now open, and I hope to see you on May 15. This beloved AU tradition is always an event to remember.

I’ll conclude where I began—with volunteers. I always say that we’re the legacy and the greatest investors in AU. If you’re not yet a volunteer for our alma mater, there is no better time to get involved. There are countless ways that you can personally advance the mission of this great institution. From mentoring current students to connecting with alumni in your area to helping recruit new Eagles, we need your assistance. Let us know how you’d like to participate.

Go Eagles!

Patty Caballero, SOC/BA ’91, Kogod/MBA ’00

P.S. Thanks to everyone who participated in our alumni survey! Soon, we’ll share what we learned as we chart the path forward together.
